ABOUT

Christina Santa Maria, mezzo-soprano, is a Brooklyn native currently living in Buffalo, NY. She holds a Master of Music degree in Voice Pedagogy and Performance (Pedagogy Emphasis) from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, graduating with distinction. Ms. Santa Maria graduated Summa Cum Laude from SUNY Binghamton University, earning the Bachelor of Music degree in Voice with a minor in Linguistics. She is an active music educator, primarily teaching voice, piano, and ukulele lessons at the Santa Maria Voice Studio, located at its new location, 3200 Elmwood Ave Suite 100 in the Ken-Ton neighborhood of Buffalo.

She also serves as the Alto Section leader for the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus and as Director of Music at Trinity Church Grand Island.

Operatic performances include scenes as Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, Charlotte in Werther, Meg Page in Falstaff, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel and Zerlina in Don Giovanni. She performed with Tri-Cities Opera as a member of the opera chorus from 2011-2015, and sang the lead role of Billie in their production of Speed Dating Tonight!, a one-act comic opera commissioned by the Janiec Opera of the Brevard Music Center.

As a professional youth and collegiate chorister, she has performed with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and Marin Alsop at Carnegie Hall, with the New York Philharmonic and Lorin Maazel at Avery Fisher Hall, and most recently with the Philadelphia Orchestra and Yannick Nézet-Séguin at the Kimmel Center. As a member of the Grammy-Award winning Brooklyn Youth Chorus, she has sung back-up vocals for world renowned artists Elton John, Aretha Franklin, John Legend, Natasha Bedingfield, Lou Reed, and Barbra Streisand.

Recently, Ms. Santa Maria attended the 2018 Boston Conservatory at Berklee Voice Pedagogy Institute in Boston, MA and debuted the role of Third Lady in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at Winter Harbor Music Festival in Maine.
